Handheld shrink wrap system
This sealing system for heat-shrinkable films (shrink wrap) was entirely designed and built by me, based on two models available out there. Originally designed to be used for wrapping bars of soap but can be used to pack small items such as CDs, DVDs, books, paintings, painting, etc.. The system seals the film and a heat gun or a hair dryer provide the heat necessary for the shrinking of the film. The system consists of 5 parts: handheld sealer, sealer controller, table, base work and support for the tube or roll of film.
Sealer
This is the handheld sealer, it measures 50 cm with a length of 40 cm of sealing. The NiCr resistance wire is supported on a base Celeron, an insulating material made of paper / fabric impregnated with phenolic resin compressed under pressure resulting in a material of high mechanical strength and thermal stability. This Celeron base is fixed on an aluminum profile in U.
The terminals of wire resistance are fastened at the ends as shown. On one side there is a spring tensioning to maintain strength stretched when heated due to thermal expansion.
Controller
Can be made two models of controller of sealer. The first is the simplest where the only control is the timer, which regulates the time that the voltage is applied in resistance. This time is a few seconds, typically 10 seconds. The other is more sophisticated where the cord is detachable by means of a four-pin connector. Has an electronic dimmer which regulates the intensity of voltage, allowing a greater flexibility of adjustment. The analog voltmeter is completely dispensable.
The controller is housed in a metal box of 21 x 15 x 12.5 cm. On the back is a jack for the power cable and a fuse protection.
Table and working base
The table measures 50 x 50 cm and under it, is a working base of 50 x 44.5 cm, that is extendable by means of 50 cm telescopic slides. When not in use can be collected and saving space. To maintain stability has an adjustable foot in between, the base end. On the base has a silicone blanket (red), essential for a good and clean seal.
Support for film roll
The support for tube / film reel is made of aluminum-bearing bar that rotates and has a separator film (film is folded in half) that facilitates positioning bars of soap at the time of sealing.
